I am a devotee of classical music from my younger days. I was initiated into Karnatic Music by my mother and was formally trained by Sengalipuram Sri.S.V.Ramamurthy and Sri.M.Sankaranarayanan. I was groomed by Tanjore S.Kalyanaraman and was spotted by Dr.M.L.Vasanthakumari to accompany her during her performances all over India and abroad.
My formal training in music includes my acquiring Post-Graduate Diploma from the Tamil Nadu Government Music College, Chennai with a gold medal.
My Concerts have been arranged under the auspices of several sabhas like the Music Academy, The Mylapore Fine Arts Club, Krishna Gana Sabha, Indian Fine arts Society, Tamil Isai Sangam, Tirupati Devasthanam, Thyaga Brahma Gana Sabha, Narada Gana Sabha, Kalakshetra, Sri Ram Samaj, Academy of Indian Music & Arts, Mulund Fine Arts (Mumbai), East Delhi Music Circle (New Delhi), Annamalai University (Chidambaram), Gayathri Fine Arts (New Delhi) Sangeetha Vidwath Sabha (Kakinada), etc.
As I have also speicialized in rendering Thevaram in the original "Pannmurai" and Thirupugazh, I was invited to perform exclusive Thevaram concerts organized by Ramalingar Narpani Mandram in Rani Seethai Hall (Chennai) and also at Coimbatore, Trichy, Tirukovilur, Thirukazhukundram, Vadapalani temple, etc.
Other laurels I garnered are prizes in competitions held by The Music Academy, Tamil Isai Sangam, The Indian Fine Arts Society, and other sabhas. Received the Best Vocalist Award from the Indian Fine Arts Society in 1996, and from the Music Academy (Chennai), in the year 2000. Won prizes in Karnatic Classical, Light Classical, Light Music competitions conducted by the All India Radio and was selected as graded artiste without Audition Test.
The title "Gandharva Vidhyadhara" was conferred upn me by the Irai Pani Mandram (Chennai) in the year 2002. I have also received the "Thirupugazh Mamani" from the Vadapalani Thirupugazh Sabhai in the year 2003.
Recently, I was invited to provide vocal accompaniments for the dance recitals of the "Trio Sisters" in the South American countries (Columbia, Bolivia and Peru) arranged by the Indian Council for Cultural Research (ICCR).
At Present, I am an "A" Grade Staff Artiste employed in All India Radio, Chennai.
